It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Department of Anesthesiology.

Kanyakumari Govt. Medical College was established in the year 2002 at Asaripallam. Dept of Anaesthesiology was started functioning under the stewardship of Prof.Thirunavukarasu. Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art anesthesia services to our patient population. These services are provided in an atmosphere committed to patient care, education and research.

The Department of Anesthesiology has a long tradition of providing excellent clinical care to our patients. In addition to our clinical work, we provide extensive service to the university and hospital community. Our 12 attending anesthesiologists have a wide array of training backgrounds and clinical interests).

Our anesthesia care team is friendly and enthusiastic. Education is the top priority in our department. The members of our department take their role seriously in providing skill training, lectures and direct hands-on learning in the operating room for medical students.

In 2008 we started a new programme Anaesthesiologists Continuing Education (ACE). Under this programme, in collabration with ISA Kanyakumari we have conducted the first CME 'ZEN'08' (Zero Error Nerve Block)

It is a Live program on peripheral nerve blocks with Nerve stimulator and Ultrasound guided.

We have presented many scientific papers in State and National Conferences.We are conducting Anaesthesia Technician one year course and Theatre Technician one year course with a strength of 30 students each. Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in our department.
